Mish — Extreme Drought Hits Much of US; 1000 Counties in 26 States Named Disaster Areas

The map shows most of Texas as being in 'drought' while we are experiencing flooding from unusually heavy summer rains this year. The map must be based on year old trends because last year we had a dry summer. http://www.chron.com/news/houston-texas/article/Flooding-threat-not-over-yet-for-Houston-area-3706419.php

The map was for the temperature trend for 1970-2011 for the U.S. Climate models also predict more intense and severe rainfall events, which can also destroy crops. I have seen the effects of both. Mish is likely correct in this instance, but it is a yearly and long time concern due to climate change.
