With Romney's selection of Paul Ryan, Ayn Rand now also on the GOP ticket. Expect to hear much more of her in the coming weeks.

This election is building to a repeat of Johnson-Goldwater 1964, however conservatives and Libertarians are a lot stronger now politically. Is the US ready for a right-wing take-over? We'll see, I guess.

BTW, it is already happening increasingly at the state level as the big money from right-wing billionaires and super-pacs pours in.

Mike, will I see more of you on TV? There's plenty of people saying that the Ryan plan is reverse-Robin Hood, and that it's mathematically bulls**t, but not enough people saying how much a non-issue the debt is. A lot of people well-meaning don't know that this is a completely made-up danger, and this could lead to some terrible choices

It’s always nice to know that you guys are your same old incompetent and dishonest selves.

1. The most important libertarian philosopher is Murray Rothbard, not Rand.

2. Rand was an advocate of the Austrian School. Ryan is a fan of inflationist Milton Friedman. Here's an extract of what Milton said:

"Now, the Bank of Japan's argument is, 'Oh well, we've got the interest rate down to zero; what more can we do?'

"It's very simple. They can buy long-term government securities, and they can keep buying them and providing high-powered money until the high-powered money starts getting the economy in an expansion. What Japan needs is a more expansive domestic monetary policy."

3. The central principle of both Rand’s and Rothbard’s political philosophies was the prohibition on the initiation of violence. How terrible.

4. The suggestion that Rand's Austrian beliefs had anything to do with Greenspan's policies at the Fed is preposterous and dishonest.

Bob,

Thanks for helping to expose Friedman as a moron too...

You're getting there!

Huh? Greenspan was a well-known protegee of Ayn Rand. If anyone is being preposterous and less than truthful here, it is you...

Good one. Do you suppose that's the real reason "Austrian" economists want smaller government? And less scrutiny of their actual connection to Menger & other original actual Austrian Economists?

There's always some flag, religion, skirt or other smokescreen for crooks to try to hide behind.

Since the smokescreen has switched from Austrian to Libertarian, let's raise 'em and talk only to Mengerian economists, just to see how many frauds drop out.
