The bacteria that turns toxic chemicals into pure gold

Roger may find interesting this story that is at the nexus of microbiology and metal-love.  Science story at The Week out today , excerpt:
Researchers at Michigan State University have discovered bacteria with the remarkable ability to turn toxic chemical compounds into 24-karat gold. The breakthrough, detailed in a combination art and biotechnology exhibition called "The Great Work of the Metal Lover," [Ed: You can't make this up.] is described by researcher Adam Brown as modern day "neo-alchemy."
This part is interesting:
The details are a bit complicated, says Jesus Diaz at Gizmodo, but basically, "Cupriavidus metallidurans can eat toxins and poop out gold nuggets."
Hmmmmm... imagine gold reduced to bacterial excrement... yuck!  State currency doesn't look that bad now does it metal-lovers? At least state currency can never take the form of biological excrement.

This project interestingly is part of a combination biotechnology and art exhibit that I wonder if Ron Paul perhaps funded with an earmark to the National Endowment of the Arts.

Oh no. MMT is right! But wait.

What does this mean for gold production? Although the Michigan State University experiment was successful, it could be "cost prohibitive to reproduce [this] experiment on a larger scale," says R&D Mag. So don't expect to grow your own gold at home anytime soon.

Picky picky picky.

And there is this interesting comment:

Do yourself a favour and hire a science editor, please. This is not alchemy, it's biochemistry. There's nothing particularly interesting about this story, other than the glamourous end result. The title should read: "The bacteria that turns toxic gold compounds into elemental gold."

Bob, MMT doesnt give a flying F about how much gold there is....

I realize that. The efficacy of gold as money must be deemed irrelevant to your totalitarian dreams and wealth shifting schemes.

Didn't I just read Randy Wray complaining about central bank wealth shifting to the elite and cheering central bank wealth shifting to the poor?

Bob,

You cannot "take it with you"...

Isn't it funny that those elite who created the central bank where the original gold bugs then?

Quote: "As a man of sense, I am a gold-bug and support gold-bug government and a gold-bug society. As a man of the world, I like confusion, anarchy, and war."

p. 348, "Morgan: American Financier" by Jean Strouse, (New York, Harper Collins, 2000)."

J.P. Morgan was the orginal anarcho-capitalist. Bob is too stupid to understand that gold is a briar patch.

Maybe the gold standard folks can switch to something else, like diamonds.

Oh no ,scratch that:

Russia declassifies that it discovered trillions of carats of diamonds under a 65-mile radius meteor crater in Siberia.
