I say it the way I say it. If you don't like it, too bad.

I speak my mind and if it comes off as brusque or rude or insulting then too bad, go somewhere else.

And I am especially sick and tired of fellow MMT adherents telling me that I have to be cordial and accomodating, like I have to walk on eggshells for fear of not offending some critic or someone with differing (and wrong) points of view. Sorry, that's not how I roll. There's other sites that do that. Go to Mosler's.

Jesus, if MMT is so fucking insecure and run by such a bunch of sissies then it explains a lot--like why this movement is NOWHERE and why it gets BURIED by idiots like Schiff and CNBC and Fox News and all the rest of the absurdly out of paradigm "experts" and media outlets out there and why there is not one MMT commentator out there on TV except me and I'd be out there a lot more were it not for the fact that I am sick of debating idiots--be they guests or hosts--I'm done, you got that?

I have this little blog and I'm lucky enough to have some great contributors, but even if they can't handle the heat that I bring and want to bow out it's fine with me as I'll probably keep writing this anyway just for my own sake.

I'm not interested in winning a popularity contest. I couldn't give a shit. I care about truth and I like insulting idiots and morons. What I write and talk about is true and factual.

I think it's good to be polite and respectful, but there are limits. And, oh yeah, I hate weak, fucking, sissies.

Keep telling like it is, Mike. We need more people like you to tell the ass wipes they are just that. MMT seems always to be on the defensive. I may be wrong, but it seems that way.

Mike, I just assumed everyone from NYC talked like that, LOL.

Sorry Mike, but I was frankly embarrassed for you after watching your video of misogynist comments. The video and this post (I say it the way I say it..") are looking like you're simply losing control of yourself. I appreciate that yourself and guys like Steve Keen who slam their heads against the brick wall of mainstream economics day after day get really frustrated, but you do yourselves and your excellent cases no justice at all by adopting foul language and sexist ranting.

I was raised in what is called nowadays a working-class 'deprived area' of Scotland. When I was a lad I would strut about F'ing and C'ing with my mates in the street and leering and shouting at passing girls because I thought it was what real men do. Any slight verbal insult was met with violence, because that was what real men do.
Then I grew up, man.
The 1% love it when you lose it like this. Who's going to listen to a raving idiot who can't even speak like an adult? The internet is forever.

Isembard, it's nice to see someone from the UK on here but sad that there doesn't seem to be a UK equivalent to UMKC etc.

Are you still in Scotland or have you migrated?

Back on topic, I guess there's a cultural thing for us. Personally I never used to swear and I still try to avoid it, apparently mild swearing shows emotionally consistency in an acceptable way...but it's tricky given I'd describe my temperature on how badly we are ruled as permanently incandescent.

Then there is the danger of being seen as a Jeremiah/Cassandra figure...

Let's focus on the posititve;

Franz Ferdinand's "We could have it so much better"

To hell with anti-austerity.

Let's be pro-Prosperity!

WiIIORNG, I still live in Scotland and I share your sadness at the lack of truly informed economic debate in the UK. Our millionaire toffs in the ConDem coalition government are currently teaching us a lot about neoliberal economics and deficit mania designed to gut our social services, aided by a clueless media (though in all frankness they are not yet as bad as yours...but give us time).

We should keep this stuff in perspective. Mike isn't appearing on C-Span here. If the producers wanted serious discussion they would have some understanding of reality rather than the myths that surround us.

If you create a discussion where one point-of-view is equivalent to "the Moon is made of green cheese", it's really not possible to mount a logical counter-argument.

The only strategy left is ridicule.

Anyway, these aren't serious programs when they allow nonsensical points-of-view. We need The MMT Show.

Ideas? Something like the Rachel Maddow Show where we don't even allow crazy ideas on the set except to ridicule them.

Being rude, or brusue, etc... is different than being a sexist ass. It's not your tone, or your brusquness I with which I have a problem.

It's the juvenile tits and ass comments that really need to go. What does mini skirts have to do with a good or bad argument?

Not much, except to juvenile male folk.

And if you can't see the mirror image of your comments to the GOP, than that's your problem.

I like a fighter. I don't like cat calls.

Paul,
You can ridicule without being sexist. What does Laura's dress have to do with her bad arguments?

Or her IQ?

Nothing.

And Mike's profile picture shows a lot of chest for a man. Does he think he needs to appeal to only over-sexed women and gay men because his ideas suck?

Come on. That's just stupid and insulting, not only to Mike, but to both women and gay men who just might notice Mike's overly exposed chest in an appreciative way.

Katie, I choose to stay out of that discussion. My comment had nothing to do with that. I was referring to the content (or lack of) on these kinds of shows, and i have no opinion one way or the other on the host(s).

The guest on the video clip Mike referenced was a delusional clown, his ideas were at the level of "green cheese" claims. Idiots like this and their ideas have no place on legitimate news shows any more than neo-Nazi ideas, other than as the subject, not the contributor.

If the host/producer thinks ideas like this are legitimate they can't be very bright, or they will do anything for money.

I prefer the Real News Network format…far more substantive discussions. I'm fed up with news-as-entertainment.

You are of course free to fight the battles of your choice.

Paul, your comments/participation on, not only this blog, but others as well have been some of the very best. I've learned a whole lot from you.

And I get that you don't want to get mixed up in Mike's stupidity when it comes to his sexist language.

All I was pointing out is that merely telling someone to keep up the good fighting words, without noticiing that, in this case, those words are closer to the dehumanizing language used by the Nazis than they are to fighting language which promotes a cause worth fighting for.

It's dumb and alienating.

Ask Kelton how she feels about it. Kelton's not exactly a burka wearing woman, and she too is pretty darn sexy.

katie @ 9:13 -- Exactly. The sexism is unnecessary. Some of the best insults contain neither sexism nor cursing.
